Our Story

In the quiet northern town of Pagudpud, Philippines, a group of passionate young missionaries embarked on a life-changing journey.Among them was a student missionary named Graye Parnell, whose life would forever be intertwined with faith, service, and an unexpected bond with the missionary life.

It was in Pagudpud, known for its serene beaches and strong Adventist presence, that they first met Graye under the guidance of District Pastor Bert Somera. The pastor, a seasoned evangelist, had long worked to spread the gospel in the region, and he saw great potential in the young missionaries. Together, they dedicated themselves to evangelism, Bible studies, and community outreach, bringing hope to families hungry for the Word of God.

Through countless preaching sessions, prayer meetings, and house-to-house visitations, Pastor Bert Somera and Graye Parnell worked side by side, their shared mission deepening not only their faith but also their relationship. What started as a partnership in ministry soon turned into a strong bond of trust, respect, and growing affection.

Their journey took them beyond Pagudpud, deep into the mountains of Tanglagan, Eva Garden, Calanasan and Malapaao where access to medical care was scarce. Alongside doctors, nurses, and fellow volunteers, they traversed rugged terrain, carrying medical supplies, food, and the gospel message to the indigenous communities.

It was in these moments treating the sick, comforting the weary, and witnessing miracles of healing that the mission’s true purpose became clear. They weren’t just there to preach; they were there to serve with their hands and hearts. The people once hesitant, welcomed them with open arms, and the experience left an everlasting impact.

Returning to Pagudpud, their bond had deepened through the challenges they faced together. Ministry wasn’t just about the work they did it was about the faith that connected them, the moments of prayer that strengthened them, and the shared dream of serving God wherever He called them.

Their story was no longer just about evangelism or medical missions. It was a story of God’s divine purpose, love growing in service, and a calling that shaped their future. As they continued their journey, whether together or apart, one thing was certain the Adventist Mountain Mission had not only changed lives, but it had also transformed their own.
